Chapter 2: The City of Tanza

We were on our way to the inn. I remembered what Luri-chan had said to me when we parted. What she taught me was what could be called Shia-san’s weakness. It’s scary that Luri-chan teaches her sister’s weaknesses even though they’re sisters. But since there’s no danger, I’d like to give it a try. Because it sounds like fun!

「Once this problem is solved, what’s next?」
「I’ll leave it to Yuan」

「Mou~ … Luri-chan told me that we can go to many places from this city, right?」

「I heard that there is a desert to the south, what kind of place is it?」

I know about the desert. It is a place of vast expanses of sand, very hot during the day and very cold at night. It’s not the desert I’m interested in, it’s Shia-san’s reaction!

TL. There’s a joke here but I’m having a hard time translating it in english…

I’m embarrassed to say it myself! I wish I hadn’t said it. As I was thinking this, Shia-san’s feet stopped and her shoulders shook.

「Shia-san, what’s wrong?」
「… N-No, nothing」

That’s what she said, but Shia-san is enduring something as if she is trying to keep it together. Then another push, right? I’ll do my best to resist the embarrassment too.

「I see. But dealing with monsters in the desert seems like a lot of work with all that sand!」

Shia-san’s weakness, it seems, is that it’s very easy to make her laugh. When Luri-chan told me about it, I didn’t think it was possible, but looking at Shia-san now, I’m pretty sure it’s true. Because the always cool Shia-san is holding back her laughter with tears in her eyes!

Shia-san led me to Illumina’s inn and we mentioned Illumina’s name. It was easy for them to let us in. It seems that Illumina-san had informed the employees of the situation. Illumina’s inn seems expensive, was it really worth it to have us stay here for free? It helps, though, that we planned to stay until this problem is solved.

If you stay at an inn, take a bath. It’s supposed to be a luxury, but I feel like I’m taking it for granted. Baths are only available in expensive lodgings, you know. I usually just wipe myself down and clean myself up. I took a bath, ate dinner, and since I had nothing special to do, I casually joked around with Shia-san and decided to go to sleep. The fact that it was a double, as it should have been, is questionable, but it’s a minor detail, so why worry about it? And so we greet the morning.

「Hmm~?」

I woke up early. Today, I woke up first, and Shia-san was sleeping peacefully with me in her arms.

「Shia-san, it’s morning」
「Not yet」

She doesn’t seem to be planning to get up. Perhaps because Illumina-san sells magic tools, there is a magic tool called a clock hanging on the wall. There was a large clock in the center of the Imperial City, and it seemed to be made in the same way, with hands rotating over 12 numbers to indicate the time. It looks like it’s set to the same time as a magic tool that has been around for a long time, but it’s still used as a reference, so it’s amazing who made the first clock. And that clock stopped at 6. So it’s 6:00 in the morning. 6 in the morning is the time when the bell of the small clock that the clock in my village would ring. I know that the bell rings at 7:00 in Tanza, so the time when everyone is active may vary from town to town or village to village.

I couldn’t escape. If I fall asleep here, it will be like yesterday. That’s why I’m not going to sleep, okay? I don’t care how good the bed feels, I won’t let something like that stop me!
