Chapter 3-5 : We Have To Do Something! (part 2)

「Before we go to that party, I think we need to buy some ornaments from this shop. Now that we have become baron and baronet, we can’t embarrass ourselves at the party.」(Chloe)

「You’re right.」(Mylia)

「I’m sure the jewels will be happy to be put on by two beautiful ladies. It would be a great honor for me if the famous Dragon Slayer were to buy jewelry from my store.」(Ghedel)

「Ghedel-san, can you please not tell anyone else about this? We will owe you for this, so I hope you can keep it a secret that Mylia and I will go to that party.」(Chloe)

「Understood. I promise I won’t tell anyone. It will be my pleasure if I can be of use to both of you. I can even sign a magic contract if you want.」(Ghedel)

A magic contract is a contract that is written on a magical paper that can burn by itself when one of the parties who made an agreement breaks their promise. It costs around five gold coins and is normally used for important transactions.

（Magic contract, huh…? I think I should leave this matter to Onee-chan…）

Mylia glanced at Chloe who was thinking.

Chloe wasn’t sure if she should ask the manager to sign a magic contract or not, but then Aria whispered to her.

「Chloe onee-sama, Ghedel-san is a trustworthy person. My father knows him well, so I think you can trust him.」(Aria)

「I see. Alright.」(Chloe)

Chloe nodded to Aria and then turned her gaze to the manager.

「No, it’s not necessary. Ghedel-san, I trust you.」(Chloe)

「Thank you, Miss Chloe.」(Ghedel)

「Oh, right. Do you know where we can buy good dresses? Mylia and I don’t have any dresses for the party.」(Chloe)

「There’s a good dress shop not far from here. Actually, Miss Robin asked my clerk the same question, and my clerk recommended this shop to her, so I’m pretty sure she also went to this shop. You can buy dresses while asking for information there.」(Ghedel)

「I see. Thank you for the information.」(Chloe)

Chloe thanked the manager with a beautiful smile.

The manager then replied to Chloe by lowering his head a little.

After the manager told them the name of the dress shop, Mylia immediately checked the invoices one by one and found the invoice from that shop.

（Uwahh… That woman bought dresses worth eight gold coins from this shop… It’s equivalent to 800,000 yen… I could have eaten barbeque at Jojoen hundreds of times with that money…）

Robin bought jewelry worth fifteen gold coins and dresses worth eight gold coins. That means, she bought items worth twenty three gold coins from just two stores.

Imagining how much money that would be in yen, Mylia couldn’t help but sigh.

Mylia turned to Chloe and whispered.

「Onee-chan, I’m still wondering… Do we really have to pay…?」(Mylia)

「Mylia, I told you why we need to pay, didn’t I?」(Chloe)

「To avoid owing debts to other aristocrats, right? But…」(Mylia)

「Not only that. If we don’t pay, we might trouble the manager and Jasmine onee-sama’s engagement partner from the Darelias Family.」(Chloe)

「I see…」(Mylia)

The manager said that if Mylia didn’t want to pay, the invoice would be billed to the Atwood Family and/or the Darelias Family.

Mylia knew how poor the Atwood Family was, so she believed that Aaron would leave the payment completely to the Darelias Family and ended up troubling them.

（Jasmine onee-sama’s engagement partner is probably Robin’s victim. She convinced the Darelias Family that I, the famous Dragon Slayer, would cover all the costs so that she could buy luxurious items, which should be for Jasmine onee-sama, for herself…）

「Also, Mylia-san, you and Chloe onee-sama just became aristocrats, so if you don’t pay, I’m afraid unpleasant rumors about you will spread in aristocratic society. After all, not all aristocrats like the fact that a little girl like you became a Dragon Slayer.」(Aria)

「Alright, I understand.」(Mylia)

（I will pay… BUT! I will definitely take everything that woman bought! Although I might never use them, I paid for those items, so they are all mine!）

Mylia clenched her fist while thinking that.

（I also need to scold her for troubling other people! But… I don’t know if I can say anything in front of her…）

In her previous life, Mylia had never talked back to her good-for-nothing father because she was too afraid, and Robin somewhat reminded her of that person because they were kind of similar.

Because of that, even though Mylia was superior to Robin, she still felt a bit scared when Robin glared at her.

「Anyway, shall we buy some jewelry?」(Chloe)

「Okay~」(Mylia)

「Let me guide you to the store area.」(Ghedel)

「Thank you.」(Chloe)

The manager guided Mylia, Chloe, and Aria leaving his room and heading for the store area.

The three girls then started looking around the store.

「Umm… I’ve never shopped at a store like this, so I’m not sure what to buy…」(Mylia)

「M, Mylia-san! Can I pick some ornaments for you?」(Aria)

Aria looked excited for some reason.

「Yes, of course!」(Mylia)

「Alright then… How about this? And this! Ah, I think this will look cute on you as well!」(Aria)

Aria enthusiastically helped Mylia try on various ornaments.

With the recommendation from Aria, Mylia decided to buy a pair of bar-type earrings made from amethyst that matched her hair color. The clasp was a soft-clip type. Other than that, Aria also recommended a necklace with a thin silver chain and a flower-shaped diamond.

Meanwhile, Chloe decided to buy snowflake-shaped earrings made from a jewel called a “Frozen Flower” that was recommended by Aria and Mylia because they looked good on her. She wouldn’t buy a necklace because she was planning to wear the one Mylia made for her (chap 1-31).

After they decided what to buy, they went to the counter to pay for all the items they and Robin bought in that store.

After paying the bill, Mylia was a bit confused because it was cheaper than she expected.

（Eh? Why do our items only cost twelve gold coins while Robin’s items cost fifteen gold coins even though we bought more items than her?）

Seeing Mylia’s confused face, Aria whispered to her.

「I think Ghedel-san gave you a discount.」(Aria)

「I see…」(Mylia)

When Mylia glanced at the manager, the manager smiled at her. Mylia then smiled back at him.

「Well then, shall we go to the dress shop?」(Chloe)

「Un!」(Mylia)

「Let’s go.」(Aria)

「Ghedel-san, thank you for your help.」(Chloe)

「It was my pleasure. I’m looking forward to your next visit.」(Ghedel)

As the manager bowed to the three of them, they left the jewelry store and headed to the dress shop.

（Aaahh~ Shopping with Aria-san and Chloe onee-chan is so fun~! It will be even better if we can go eat together after this~）

After walking for a while, they arrived at the designated dress shop.

They entered and asked the clerk about Robin.

「Certainly, Miss Robin de la Atwood came to this store a few days ago. She said that she was buying a dress for her sister, Jasmine de la Atwood, who will soon be engaged to someone from the Nile Family.」(clerk)

「Hold on… the Nile Family…? Not the Darelias Family…?」(Chloe)

「No, Miss Robin said that Miss Jasmine’s engagement partner was from the Nile Family.」(clerk)

「…Are you sure…?」(Chloe)

「Yes, I’m pretty sure of it.」(clerk)

Chloe, Mylia, and Aria looked at each other in confusion.

（What’s going on!? The manager from the jewelry store said that it was the Darelias Family, but this clerk said it was the Nile Family… Robin… I don’t know exactly what she is planning but we need to stop her as soon as possible!）

After that, Mylia and Chloe quickly bought dresses and contacted the organizer of the party.
