Chapter 4-11 : Griffons (part 3)

「As Titania-sama said, I think I should see the griffons for myself before deciding what to do. Mylia, you know the area where their herd is located, right?」(Chloe)

「I do.」(Mylia)

「Can you take me there?」(Chloe)

「Of course!」(Mylia)

（I haven’t told Master about the prophecy I saw at the cathedral, but I think we can talk about it later. For now, I think we should focus on the griffons.）

While thinking that, Mylia glanced at the map and confirmed if there were any teleportation points near the location.

（Hmm…. Ah, there’s a teleportation point in this area. It’s near where the herd of griffons is located, so I think I will teleport there.）

「Onee-chan, we will be going with Teleportation Magic.」(Mylia)

「Alright. I’m counting on you.」(Chloe)

Chloe’s eyes were sparkling. It seemed that she was looking forward to seeing griffons with her own eyes.

「Oh, right. Before we go, I better cast some self-defense spells on you. Can you stand over there?」(Mylia)

「Alright.」(Chloe)

Chloe got up from her chair, stepped away from the table, and turned to Mylia.

Her beautiful black hair that was reflecting the sunlight filtering through the trees made her well-shaped lips and her jewel-like deep purple eyes look even more pretty.

（Onee-chan is so charming no matter how many times I see her… Thinking that this lovely person is my older sister, I’m grateful to God for giving me a second life in this world.）

「What’s wrong, Mylia?」(Chloe)

Seeing Mylia blankly stare at her, Chloe asked.

「Nothing~ I just thought that it would be a disaster if something bad happened to you. Your beauty is on a world-heritage level after all.」(Mylia)

「World-heritage level…?」(Chloe)

Chloe tilted her head. She had no idea what Mylia was talking about.

While hoping that nothing bad would happen to her precious older sister, Mylia took a deep breath. She then stretched her arms toward Chloe and began to cast a protection spell on her.

（Hmm, the best protection spell is the one that activates automatically when you’re in danger. I think I will cast my new protection spell, Anti-Magic Burst, on Onee-chan!）

Just like Mylia’s Cat Barrier, Anti-Magic Burst is a counter-type spell that will automatically activate when the user is attacked.

Not only was it strong against magical attacks, but it was also strong against physical attacks.

（It would be bad if Onee-chan is attacked with a mental-type offensive spell, so I think I should cast “Mental Guardian” on her as well.）

Mental Guardian was a protection spell Mylia created not long ago. It would absorb mind magic and use the magical energy from it to create an illusion of a powerful guardian that will protect the user.

「Whoaa….」(Chloe)

Chloe could see Mylia’s magical power when Mylia cast the spell on her. It looked like a rainbow-colored haze flowing from Mylia’s hands and wrapped around Chloe’s body.

「So this is Mylia’s magical power… How beautiful…」(Chloe)

Unlike Chloe who was fascinated by Mylia’s magical power, the wild birds who were perching on the surrounding trees suddenly flew away as they felt a huge amount of magical power being released.

After about twenty seconds, the rainbow-colored haze disappeared.

「Phew… Alright, this will do. Now Onee-chan is invulnerable to magical attacks, physical attacks, and mental attacks. But, hold on… What if the enemies used flame magic and Onee-chan ran out of oxygen…? Maybe I should also cast a spell that can provide oxygen like an oxygen cylinder…? Also, what if the enemies used poison…? I wonder if my Anti-Magic Burst can counter poison attacks…」(Mylia)

Seeing Mylia mutter to herself with a worried face, Titania sipped her tea and beckoned her.

「Mylia, come here.」(Titania)

「Yes, Master?」(Mylia)

「What do you think you’re going to fight against?」(Titania)

「Umm… griffons…?」(Mylia)

「Well, they would indeed attack you if they spotted you. I said they’re strong but, Mylia, I’m sure you can easily beat them. In the first place, your goal is to observe them, not to fight them, so you should avoid fighting them if possible.」(Titania)

「Ah, you’re right… I’m just worried because Chloe onee-chan can’t use magic to protect herself, but it’s better than nothing, right? It’ll be too late if something happens to her.」(Mylia)

「I can’t argue with you on that. Hmm…」(Titania)

After talking to Mylia, Titania focused her magical power in her eyes and looked at Chloe.

「Hmm, I see… Mylia, seems like you did a great job applying spells to her. Can you tell me about those spells later?」(Titania)

「Okay!」(Mylia)

After cheerfully replied to Titania, Mylia looked back at the map on the table and used Clairvoyance to check the route she would take and searched for the herd of Griffons at the same time.

While Mylia was doing that, Titania and Leaf approached Chloe and began to observe her closely.

「U, Umm…」(Chloe)

「Hee… She can now transfer this much magical power into someone else’s body. She really has gotten better at controlling her magical power. It’s probably because she keeps practicing magic together with her friend, Aria…」(Titania)

As Titania murmured to herself, Leaf pinched and rubbed Chloe’s clothes.

「Mylia onee-chan’s new spells…」(Leaf)

「Chloe, listen. Mylia has injected a high amount of magical power into your body. It’s so powerful that it can wipe out a battalion-sized army with a single blow.」(Titania)

「Eh…? Eeehh!?」(Chloe)

Chloe was so surprised that she let out a strange sound.

「But you don’t have to worry. Its nature is defensive, so as long as you don’t do anything reckless, you’ll be fine. This powerful magical power will protect you from danger.」(Titania)

「I, I see…」(Chloe)

Chloe awkwardly nodded to Titania.

「That girl won’t listen to anyone especially when it comes to the safety of the precious people in her life.」(Titania)

After Titania said so, Chloe laughed but frowned at the same time. She agreed with her.

「Fufu. I know. She can be overprotective sometimes.」(Chloe)

When the two finished talking, Mylia stopped using Clairvoyance and opened her eyes.

「Umm… That area is too large… I can’t find where the herd is…」(Mylia)

Mylia tried to find the griffons with Clairvoyance but she failed.

「Onee-chan, it’s probably better if we just go and look for them. We may find clues on the way.」(Mylia)

「Alright then, shall we go now?」(Chloe)

「Un. Leaf, you wanna come too?」(Mylia)

When Mylia asked, Leaf sat on a stump and shook her head.

「It’s time for sunbathing…」(Leaf)

She then looked blankly at the sky while bathing in the sunlight.

（Oh, right. It’s time for her to photosynthesize. Guess I’ll leave her here then.）

Looking at the large leaf on Leaf’s head while she was photosynthesizing, Mylia wondered if the radish sprout on her head would grow as big.

（Uhh… I can’t imagine myself photosynthesizing like a plant while looking blankly at the sky like that…）

「Master, can you take care of her while I’m gone?」(Mylia)

「Alright. If something happens, let me know with your Phone Magic, okay?」(Titania)

「Okay~ Well then, Onee-chan, please take my hand.」(Mylia)

「Okay.」(Chloe)

Mylia held Chloe’s hand tightly and activated Teleportation Magic, heading for the forest southwest of the Atwood Territory.
