The next morning. I woke up in an unfamiliar room.
I was supposed to be living in Yang.
I remembered that today was a memorable day when I changed jobs from an adventurer to a villager.
I got up from the shabby bed, dusted myself off, and finished a quick breakfast.
I took the dried meat, hard bread, and weapons I had brought yesterday and walked into the forest.
The atmosphere was as eerie as ever. There were probably fewer animals than before, and more monsters in their place. When I was on my way to Yang, I didn’t have a weapon, so I was curious but ignored it.
Now that I was not fully prepared, but at least I was prepared, I could afford to look for the cause.
I swung the sword a couple of times to see how it felt, and then let my magic flow through it. It didn’t go smoothly, but my magic had spread. This will increase its strength and sharpness. This is an essential ability for fighting monsters, and it is a skill that any experienced adventurer can use.
「Okay, let’s go.」
I was ready to fight any goblin or skeleton knight.
I walked deeper into the forest and returned to the spot where I had killed the goblin.
「A whole day passes and yet still it remains …」
The goblin’s corpse was still there. There were no signs of having been devoured.
I had left it there because I thought it would make a good meal for the animals that lived in the forest, but I guess the carnivorous animals didn’t go near it. It seems that the environment has changed more drastically than I had imagined.
I crouched down to examine the ground, trying to resist the smell coming from the corpse. In addition to the footprints that the goblin and I had left, I saw something else.

They must have been left by the skeleton knight who had witnessed them. Two in number. If there was someone nearby who didn’t eat, then it makes sense that the bodies were left behind.
These guys seemed to have stayed here and then moved on to another place.
I followed their footsteps and started to move as well. Since I didn’t have a clear destination in mind, I wandered aimlessly, sometimes circling the same place.
I don’t think it’s suspicious, because it’s a common behavior of low-grade monsters who don’t have any thinking ability. They are just wandering because they are attracted by magic power.
Sometimes they are attracted by the natural magic of living things, and other times they are attracted by the dense magic released from dungeons. It’s faster to follow a skeleton knight rather than to walk aimlessly through an unknown forest.
I had been following the skeleton knight, hoping for such a coincidence, but it seemed that he had changed his behavior. He was walking towards a specific place without any hesitation.
Beyond that, there is Yang. The image of a skeleton knight escaping the forest and attacking the village comes to my mind.
