When I arrived in Yang, I hurriedly decided to head to the only inn in the village.
The first floor is a tavern, and the second and third floors are used as an inn, in the orthodox style.
I walked down the street that I remembered.
Nothing has changed since a few years ago, so I get to the building without getting lost and open the door to enter.
I was greeted by a loud noise and a stuffy air.
“Welcome!”
The sign girl welcomed me with a cheerful voice. Her name was …… Helmine, right?
The last time I saw her, she looked like a little girl, but now she’s grown into an adult woman.
I felt sentimental, thinking how much time had passed since then. She didn’t seem to remember me, so I decided to skip the greeting and just tell her what I needed.
“One set meal for today. And I’d like to stay overnight, is your room available?”
“Yes, it’s available! One set meal and one room per person!”
“Yeah, I’d like that.”
“Yes! Then please sit down in the available seat.”
I looked around the restaurant and saw that all the seats were occupied. Most of them were eating with several other people, and there was only one place where we could sit together.
There was a woman who was quietly eating by herself, so I decided to head there.
I asked her, “I don’t have a spot available, is it okay if I sit with you?”
The woman whom I called out to, looked up to me.
As an adventurer, I’ve been to many cities and met many people. She had a beauty that even I had never seen before, and I stopped in my tracks.
She scampered around, nodded, and opened her mouth.
“It’s true. Go ahead.”
I got the impression that she was a little cold, but then again, she didn’t know the guy. It was natural to be this cautious.
I thanked her and took a seat across from her, waiting for my food.
The woman in front of me tore off a small piece of bread and popped it into her mouth, chewing it slowly.
“My name is Lars. I used to be an adventurer. And you are?”
I somehow didn’t want to spend the rest of the day in silence, so I introduced myself.
If they ignored me, that was it. I thought there would probably be no response, but surprisingly, she seemed to be interested and her hand stopped eating.
“Thank you for your kindness. I’m Sophie. I used to work at the church.”
“You mean you worked there?”
“Yes, I did. I’m not working anymore. I thought I’d spend some time here in the village. ……”
That’s strange. I was thinking of quitting my job as an adventurer and spending the rest of my life here.
“It’s the same.”
Sophie’s eyes widened in surprise at the coincidence that we had the same goal.
“Same here!”
She replied, discovering something new, beautiful women are beautiful no matter what they look like.
Just when I thought I’d been kicked out of the party after my childhood sweetheart was taken away from me, I’d met someone like this.
You never know what will happen in life. It was this moment that made me realize such a natural thing.
