What are you doing?

In the morning, I leave my house and walk through the village.

As far as I could see, there were more than five buildings under construction.

A church and a branch of the adventurer’s guild are being built on the central street of the village, while a blacksmith store and a store that sells magic tools are in the process of sprucing up the interior.

Houses have been built on what used to be fields, and some people have moved from the city to start new businesses.

The process of Yang’s growth from a village to a city is right before our eyes.

I feel like I’m moving away from my free and easy life in the country, but when I get settled, I can move to Yang’s place and live quietly.

My relationship with Zelma should be severed once the dungeon search gets underway. I’m still okay. We can get back on track.

The story of the Knight hasn’t been officially announced yet. There must be many ways to escape. I don’t think this is a naive fantasy…….

「What are you doing stopping in the middle of the road?」

Apparently, I had stopped and was thinking. Before I knew it, Sophie was next to me.

「I was watching Yang’s development.」
「It’s changing like a child going through a growth spurt.」

She was nodding her head.

She looked happy, and I guess she was genuinely happy to see Yang grow up.

She smiled in a way that made me wish I could see only the beautiful things, and I didn’t care who saw me.

「You’re going to meet Regina-sama now, aren’t you? Would you like to go with me?」
「Yes, let’s do that.」

Yes, we had been summoned for a job request.

We were not told what it was. I guess it will be handed down on the spot.

We walked down a busy street to the former home of the village chief.

The house had been remodeled to house Zelma and Regina, and the village chief, who was the owner of the house, was no longer in Yang. He had received a large sum of money and had moved to another city.

Some villagers may feel that it was a terrible story that the nobleman kicked him out, but that village chief has no authority to rule the town, so it was a good thing that he was replaced before any trouble occurred. Besides, it’s hard to do things with Zelma behind you. That was a wise decision.

When I entered the house that had such a backdrop, I found that the interior had been greatly changed.

There were thick, luxurious carpets, simple but expensive looking furnishings, and several weapons displayed on the walls as interior decorations. It was easy to imagine that each one of them must be worth a tremendous amount of money.

As I waited at the entrance, one of the maids in a long skirt approached me. I had never seen her face before. It must have been a new maid sent to replace the dead one.

「You must be Lars-sama and Sophie-sama. Regina-sama is waiting for you.」

I followed the maid’s back. She went upstairs and knocked on the simple but sturdy wooden door.

「I have a visitor for you.」
「Please come in.」

When the door was opened, I found Regina sitting in a chair by the window, drinking tea. What an elegant day she was having.

There was a plate of cookies on the table, not enough for one person to eat. There were two empty chairs nearby, which meant….

「There are a few things I would like to ask you, so let’s talk over a cup of tea.」

I had the impression that not only her expression, but even her words had softened.
