Everyone just stared at that horrible face, and, for a while, it was terribly quiet.

“So you’ve both settled the score with each other?” Fu Yucheng chuckled, breaking the deathly silence.

He looked at Mei Nianxue, speaking slowly. “Since the score is settled, why did you pretend to be him and went to Fort Hurricane? His father, his childhood sweetheart and fiancée Zhou Xiaoling, and the young girl who accidentally entered Zhou Xiaoling’s mourning hall. You killed all of them, right? You call that having settled a score? From the start, and all along, what you were actually concerned about was just the power and wealth of Fort Hurricane.”

Standing on the roof of the car, Mei Nianxue looked down at the lonely head on the ground, and he flashed a sudden smile.

“Yes, I killed those people, so what? How does what I have in mind have anything to do with you? Whether him and I… have a score to settle or not, is none of your business. Fort Hurricane was originally meant to be mine… But I didn’t come here because of Fort Hurricane. I just wanted to try and live his life, that’s all.”

He paused, and then continued, “The late master was shrewd, and he got suspicious of me the first time we met. I speeded up time and caused him to have a brain hemorrhage and die. I don’t fear admitting to all the things I’ve done.”

Fu Yucheng asked, “What about Zhou Xiaoling? You married Mo Ziwei’s fiancée in order to stabilize your position, and then, when she discovered the truth, you pushed her out a window?”

Mei Nianxue shook his head. “I didn’t marry her to secure my position… I just wanted to see what Mo Ziwei’s childhood sweetheart was like.

“Actually, she wasn’t much more. She only cared about Mo Ziwei’s status and she didn’t even find me out. I didn’t want to share a room with her after marriage, but I didn’t feel bad for her either. She tried to please me many times, but she didn’t succeed, and we finally had a big fight. I got tired of trying to placate her and pushed her out of the window.

“Because of who she was, I had to set up a mourning hall for her. One day, I wandered in out of boredom and said something to her memorial tablet, something about Mo Ziwei… Who would have known that there was a little girl hiding behind the mourning hall’s curtain? I caught her. She was very frightened, shaking, with her eyes wide open and full of tears.

“That expression of hers reminded me of that man’s younger brother – that is, you, Mo Ziran.” Mei Nianxue lowered his head and glanced at Mo Ziran at his feet.

Mo Ziran trembled. Deep inside, he was terrified, but he glared at the other defiantly.

Mei Nianxue kept speaking coldly. “Yes, you’re always opening your big eyes and pretending to be innocent. When I looked at her and thought of you, I was very unhappy. Not to mention that she found me out. So I gouged her eyes out and beat her to death.

“Afterwards, there were some rumors circulating around Fort Hurricane about some people wanting to take me down. I did some purging in the family and cleared up the air a bit at last.”

Mo Ziran said quietly, “Father… Xiaoling… You killed them all. I’m obviously the one you hate the most, so why didn’t you kill me?”

The corners of Mei Nianxue’s mouth twitched emotionlessly. “When I first came, you were too young, you didn’t understand anything, and you looked foolish. What’s the point of killing a kid? How would it be any fun at all? Seeing the way you look, right now, makes me happy.”

“You… you…. You’re a lunatic! A deviant!” Mo Ziran cursed at him.

“Scold me all you want, I don’t care. Oh well, it’s about time. Since he loved you so much, I should have sent you down to accompany him sooner.” Mei Nianxue narrowed his eyes, and the rope of the spectral hook began to wrap around Mo Ziran’s neck, over and over.

His voice continued, soft and measured. “I want to strangle you slowly. Very, very slowly, so that you can enjoy the entire process.”

Mo Ziran desperately grabbed at the hook on his neck, choking noises coming from his throat, and bloodshot veins gradually began to appear on the whites of his eyes.

The members of the Mo family looked at each other, but no one dared to take the lead and try to stop Mei Nianxue.

Song Lan took a step forward, but she was dragged back by another two instructors behind her. “Do you want to die?!” She struggled fiercely. “Let go! Let me go!”

“Mo Ziran is going to die,” Fu Yucheng whispered. “Little Mo, I’m going to throw my blade and attack Mei Nianxue… It will definitely distract him, and then I’ll drive him away from Mo Ziran so that you can go save him. Got it?”

Bai Mo frowned and said, “No, that’s too dangerous. Yu-ge, you…”

Seeing that Mo Ziran’s face was already turning blue, Fu Yucheng had no time to continue arguing with Bai Mo. He raised his hand and threw his blade, the blue scimitar gliding through the air.

“You overestimate yourself.” Mei Nianxue snorted coldly and loosened the rope of the hook before flinging it, attempting to trap the scimitar mid air.

In an instant, the thin blades, curved like a snake’s fangs, met face to face.

And with a crisp snap, the hook was cut into two pieces by the scimitar!

The blade, covered in a dazzling blue light, advanced mercilessly and with unstoppable momentum.

At the critical moment, Mei Nianxue suddenly leaned back, evading the devilish blade at an almost impossible speed!

Then, with a smooth move, he directly took hold of the blade in mid-air!

At that point, Fu Yucheng had already picked up Mo Ziwei’s head with one hand, turned around and ran off, getting into his off-road vehicle and slamming down the accelerator.

The off-road vehicle started up at full power, roaring like a monster and speeding towards the ice fields.

“So you want to run? Not so fast!” Mei Nianxue sneered.

He raised his arms slightly, and the two halves of the broken hook latched onto his left and right arm simultaneously. Then, he suddenly swung his right arm through the air, and the hook with the rope attached itself to the roof of the off-road vehicle.

Mei Nianxue flew up from the roof of the armored vehicle and lunged at the off-road.

At the same time, he swung his other hand, and the scimitar flew towards Mo Ziran underneath.

All of it happened in barely a couple of seconds.

In that time, Mei Nianxue had grabbed the scimitar with his bare hands, started chasing after the off-road vehicle, and thrown the scimitar, attempting to kill Mo Ziran.

However, at that moment, Bai Mo had slipped under the armored vehicle, right behind Mo Ziran.

He watched as the blue scimitar fell from above while Mo Ziran lay stupidly on the roof of the car, not even thinking of dodging.

In a flash of lighting, time almost seemed to freeze.

At that moment, everyone in the Mo family exclaimed in unison, the training camp soldiers looked at each other and Song Lan roared, “What are you doing just standing there in a daze?! Go!” The elite guard hesitated, not knowing what to do. The blade was falling towards Mo Ziran’s neck, Fu Yucheng had broken through the motorcycle formation, Mei Nianxue, holding the hook, was chasing after him mid air, and Bai Mo had already arrived behind Mo Ziran.

At that moment, Mei Nianxue, in mid air, was thinking to himself, He actually took that man’s head, he even dared to take that man’s head… I want him dead!

Fu Yucheng stepped on the accelerator hard, wondering, Will Little Mo be able to save Ziran?

Mo Ziran looked up at the faint blue light, thinking, Brother, am I going to die?

Bai Mo was thinking, Should I save Mo Ziran?

If Mo Ziran dies, that man will no longer be able to recover his psionic power and he will have to be with me… However, he promised me that he would never leave me and that he’d eat the fish I prepared for the rest of his life… If he can’t recover his psionic power… If he recovers his psionic power… If… If Mo Ziran dies, he’ll be disappointed… And he trusts me, so I can… I can’t… I…

The young man’s heart was in disarray, and, when he came back to his senses, a large curtain of ice had appeared out of thin air, firmly protecting Mo Ziran.

The blue scimitar was stuck on top of it, causing a large crack to appear on the ice wall, the blade still trembling slightly.

Mo Ziran lay on the other side of the ice curtain, his round eyes wide open, his face full of tears.

Bai Mo closed his eyes, not knowing whether to be disappointed or relieved.

No longer at war with himself, he raised his hand and took the scimitar and then climbed on a motorcycle nearby, slammed the accelerator, and began to chase the off-road vehicle and Mei Nianxue.

At that point, the teenager no longer dwelled on anything anymore. He only had one thought in mind: that man was facing a powerful enemy, and he needed Bai Mo to protect him.

The off-road vehicle sped wildly, a vast ice field spreading before it.

Mei Nianxue landed on the back of the car lightly.

The hook on his right hand attached itself onto a bump on the roof to maintain stability, while the one on his left hand flew ahead.

Barely making any sound, half of the front of the vehicle was cut off and crashed into the ground.

The entire cab was now completely exposed, an alarm’s red light flashing desperately.

The tires bumped against the ice’s surface, and the vehicle began to spin out of control. Fu Yucheng couldn’t hold onto anything anymore, and he was thrown out of the cab.

" "

Flicking the hook on his left arm, Mei Nianxue took Mo Ziwei’s head from the vehicle.

He turned around, hugged the head and dropped to the ground, carefully placing it onto a clean patch of ice. “Dear Wei,1 wait for me for a bit… When I get rid of this nasty devil, I will take you home. We’ll go back to the Devil’s Antarctic, where we can be alone.”

He muttered a few more words before slowly standing up.

Fu Yucheng had been harshly thrown out of the speeding vehicle, and he had rolled several times on the ground. At that point, he was lying on hard ice and his brain was buzzing. He didn’t even know where he had been hit. His whole body hurt, and he guessed that he had broken a rib or two.

Mei Nianxue slowly lifted his left hand as he advanced towards Fu Yucheng.

Fast as lighting, a faint blue light flew at him from behind.

Bai Mo, riding a heavy motorcycle, had arrived!

Mei Nianxue leaned slightly to the side, and the faintly blue scimitar grazed his cheek, dangerously close, falling on the ice beside Fu Yucheng.

Fu Yucheng’s eyes lit up slightly, and he reluctantly took hold of his scimitar. Bai Mo drove past him, swift like the wind, and pulled him onto the motorcycle.

Fu Yucheng lay on it, took a slow breath, turned his head around and told Bai Mo, seated behind him, “Drive behind him and head back to the desert! I underestimated him. I don’t know why, but he had been hiding his strength before… the two of us can’t beat him! Go!”

Bai Mo nodded, and the motorcycle’s tires screeched against the ice’s surface harshly, suddenly making a wide circle and rushing back towards the Desert.

Mei Nianxue smiled. “You still want to run away?”

His thin figure was like that of a ghost, and, in the blink of an eye, he was suddenly next to the motorcycle.

Then, he raised his arm and the spectral hook flashed with a faint blue light, aimed straight at Fu Yucheng’s neck.

He wanted to cut off the man’s head.

The moment Mei Nianxue began to lift his elbow, Bai Mo had already unconsciously made an abrupt turn. The back of the motorcycle changed directions, and the boy received the killing blow with his back.

After the heavy attack, the motorcycle crashed to the ground, throwing them far across the ice.

The two people rolled on the ground several times before coming to a stop.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Fu Yucheng slowly woke up. He could faintly feel Bai Mo lying on his back, and the area where their two bodies touched was warm and felt sticky and wet.

His brain buzzing, he hurriedly turned around and took the other into his arms.

At that moment, Bai Mo’s very young, good looking face was strangely pale.

Fu Yucheng shivered and looked down. There was a horrible hole on the boy’s chest, and thick, warm blood kept flowing out. The hook had pierced through his chest from behind.

“You… are you okay?” Bai Mo coughed weakly, his dark eyes slightly hooded.

Fu Yucheng didn’t answer. His lips trembled slightly, and his brain was nearly blank… He had gone through many things, but he hadn’t felt like this in a long, long time.

As if he had noticed his strange behaviour, the boy whispered comfortingly, “It… it doesn’t hurt, truly.”

His voice was very soft and hoarse, like that of someone dying.

Fu Yucheng pressed the hideous wound haphazardly, and his heart dropped, making his entire body feel cold.

Mei Nianxue took his hook and slowly walked in front of them.

He seemed to find the situation amusing. He looked at them up and down and gently clicked his tongue. “This kid, it seems he’s not a fool.”

Fu Yucheng stared at him, and suddenly a blue light flashed in his hand.

Mei Nianxue twisted his wrist easily. Fu Yucheng couldn’t even see how the other had moved.

“Heh, you’re overestimating yourself.”2 Mei Nianxue snorted coldly and applied a bit of force.

With just a soft snap, Fu Yucheng suddenly felt a sharp pain. His right wrist had been fractured.

He gritted his teeth, but in the end he couldn’t hold on, and the scimitar fell to the ground.

Mei Nianxue narrowed his eyes, leaned down slowly, and picked up the blue blade from the ice.

He examined the beautiful scimitar and then smiled slightly. “I wasn’t mistaken. Just now, this scimitar was able to cut my spectral hook… It’s an extremely high quality sentience weapon made of pure blue gold. Only two sentience weapons like this exist.”

He paused for a moment, and then sighed. “I promised that man to keep an eye on you for him and to protect you… and I had guessed that, if I kill you, he’ll get really angry and punish me for not doing my job right. However, it turns out that he even gave you this blade… So if I kill you, he’ll probably want my life in return.”

Fu Yucheng asked, confused, “What do you mean?”

Mei Nianxue smiled and said, “What do I mean? I don’t mean anything. I only know that it’s meaningless for you to play dumb like this.

“There are only two pure blue gold sentience weapons that have been made by the Fisher Laboratories. One of them, the ‘Wings of Death’, was taken by my great-grandfather, Mo Hanchuan, and disappeared in deep space. The other, ‘Silent Blue Moon’, has been passed down by the Imperial family from generation to generation.”

He smiled. “Your blade is an Imperial family treasure that has been passed down, and the sentience weapon of the Imperial Prince, Rong Yuan – ‘Silent Blue Moon’. As the Prince Regent of the Empire, he even gave you his sentience weapon for self-defense… Tsk, he must have been very worried about you being wronged on Earth.”

Bai Mo blinked slowly. He had lost too much blood and felt a bit confused. “Yu-ge, what is he talking about…? Rong Yuan isn’t… your enemy… he… ack… your blade… ah…”

“You are badly injured, don’t talk.” Fu Yucheng pressed his wound tightly with one hand. With the other, in severe pain from the fracture, he stroked the young man’s hair soothingly.

He stared at Mei Nianxue and slowly said, “So back then, when you returned to Fort Hurricane and quickly took hold of it, Rong Yuan was helping you behind the scenes.”

Mei Nianxue smiled and replied, “That’s right. The Imperial Prince sent a trusted subordinate to come, hoping to find Mo Ziwei, but… Mo Ziwei was no longer around, so he could only cooperate with me. He helped me become the master of Fort Hurricane, and, in return, he wanted me to keep an eye on you, keep you from getting into trouble, and… take good care of you.

“He handed me a short, handwritten letter. In the letter, he warned me that you are extremely ruthless and will stop at nothing… and that any words that leave your mouth can’t be trusted.”

Fu Yucheng forcibly endured the sharp pain in his wrist, gently stroking the boy’s thick, soft hair, and smiled. “He knows me well.”

Bai Mo listened in a daze, feeling a little empty and confused.

What are they… talking about? What happened between him and… Rong Yuan?

“I don’t know what kind of a mess there is between you two, and I’m not interested to know either. I don’t care if he hates you, or…” Mei Nianxue smiled slightly, and did not elaborate. “I only know that you are a lot of trouble.

“I transferred you to Fort Hurricane and let you off, again and again… You don’t actually believe it was because I appreciate you, do you? By the way, that one time in the Italian restaurant, the cup of mint ice cream that I bought you was also on the Imperial Prince’s orders. Hah, ice cream. I really don’t understand you two.”

Mei Nianxue sneered, and then said, “To be honest, I didn’t want to kill you. After all, to offend the Prince Regent at the apex of his power is asking for death. But now, I don’t care that much anymore.”

Footnotes

Raws say A-Wei, which doesn’t sound natural right away in English and I don’t think has been used before in the translation. The A- prefix is an endearment, not necessarily romantic but it seems suitable in this context, especially since Mei Nianxue hasn’t used it before at any point and would address Ziwei as -ge according to his own descriptions, or by his full name.以卵击石 ‘hitting a stone with an egg’, self explanatory but a bit distracting in this situation ah.
