Chapter 75.2 Talent Protection

Yan Hao’s good mood lasted from the beginning of class all the way until lunch that when Sheng Heng saw his little junior, whose eyes were shining brightly in contrast to his eyes which were usually a lot less bright, he couldn’t help but ask, “What happened that has made you so happy?”

“Nothing.” Yan Hao shook his head.

“But you look very happy.” Sheng Heng said in response.

“I do?” Yan Hao was stunned.

“Not only do you look happy, you’ve had a smile on your face since you entered the cafeteria. This is the first time I’ve seen you like this in all the time I’ve known you.” Cheng Wenkang chimed in.

Being reminded of this, Yan Hao realized that his mood had changed, but it was more of an internal transformation. However in this moment he didn’t know how to explain it to them, so he could only scratch his head in embarrassment and say, “I just suddenly feel happy today.”

Sheng Heng smiled, “Then I hope you feel this happy every day.”

“En.” Yan Hao nodded with a smile.

“Yes, has anyone from the Pharmacy Department come looking for you lately?” Sheng Heng suddenly asked.

“How do you know?” How did Sheng Heng know that Yan Fei had come to look for him?

“The news of you making a level six sedative at the base has spread back to the school, so the Pharmacy Department will definitely take notice of you. What’s more, you studied pharmacy in middle school and even took an exam at the Pharmacy Department before, so the teachers there would definitely want you to continue studying Pharmacy.” Sheng Heng explained.

At present, the talent Yan Hao had shown in Mech Building wasn’t as high as his talent in Pharmacy, so it wasn’t a surprise that the teachers would have this idea in mind.

“No teachers from the Pharmacy Department have come to look for me.” Yan Hao shook his head.

“If it’s not the teachers, then who has?” Sheng Heng asked sensitively.

“That horrid little brother of his.” He Shao answered.

Yan Fei?! The expression on Sheng Heng’s face turned serious immediately.

Although Yan Hao had never mentioned his family affairs in front of Sheng Heng, just from his brief encounter with Yan Fei, Sheng Heng had sensed that something was wrong. Despite Yan Fei’s claims that he was acting in the best interests of his big brother, he had allowed his friend to humiliate Yan Hao without doing anything. Such a two-faced and deeply scheming person really inspired one’s hate. Most importantly, Yan Hao hated Yan Fei, and anyone that Yan Hao hated, Sheng Heng hated without reservation.

“What did he come for?” Sheng Heng asked nervously, “Did he bully you?”

“No.” Yan Hao shook his head.

“Don’t worry, that green tea came by himself this time. Although I’m not good at fighting, I’m good at arguing. I didn’t let him get away with anything.” He Shao said.

“Thank you.” Sheng Heng finally relaxed.

“….” Do I need you to tell me thank you?!

“What did he come to see you for?” Sheng Heng continued.

“He wants to persuade me to go back to continue studying Pharmacy.” Yan Hao answered.

“Maybe it’s a teacher from the Pharmacy Department who knows he is your younger brother and so sent him to persuade you.” Sheng Heng guessed.

“Then they found the wrong person. If it had been someone else, maybe there might have still been a chance, but making Yan Fei come is completely hopeless.” He Shao snorted coldly.

“I wouldn’t agree even if someone else came.” Yan Hao said firmly, “I like mech building, I like our current class.”

He never wanted to return to that malicious pharmacy class from his previous life.

“I also want to continue researching mimetic mechs, so that Senior Sheng can become a stronger warrior.” On the way back from No. 3 Desolate Planet, Sima Mingxuan had led his team in a surprise assessment in coordination with Teacher Xiao. Yan Hao watched the entire battle through video on the spaceship and also knew that it had been Sima Mingxuan that Sheng Heng had fought against.

In that battle, Sheng Heng had lost. Yan Hao didn’t really know very much about battles, but felt that the fight between Sheng Heng and Sima Mingxuan had been very intense. Afterwards, Cheng Wenkang had mentioned once in front of him that if it wasn’t because Black Soul’s mimetic level was only at level 5 and its reaction speed slower than Sima Mingxuan’s level 6 mech, Sheng Heng might not have lost. At that time, although Sheng Heng hadn’t said anything, Yan Hao had seen the regret in his eyes.

Compared to Sima Mingxuan, Yan Hao naturally liked Sheng Heng more, so at that time he decided that he had to upgrade Black Soul, so that Sheng Heng could have a fair fight with Sima Mingxuan. It would be best if he could beat Sima Mingxuan, to vent his anger for the previous life.

Naturally, Sheng Heng didn’t know Yan Hao’s thoughts. All he heard was only that one sentence, ‘so that Senior Sheng can become a stronger warrior’. The corners of his mouth split into a smile so wide that it almost appeared at the back of his ears as a strong joy overflowed from the bottom of his heart.

“In that case, then I’m counting on you.” Sheng Heng said in response.

“En.” Yan Hao agreed with a nod.

Watching the interaction between the two, He Shao covered his eyes, unable to bear to look as he felt that soon, his cub would be deceived away.

Pharmacy Department, the Director’s office.

“Is what you’re saying true?” Director Liao confirmed again and again as he looked at the well-behaved student in front of him.

“It’s true.” Yan Fei nodded, saying with a sincere expression on his face, “My big brother has been talented since childhood. He has always been first in pharmacy exams in middle through to high school and he originally planned to apply for our pharmacy major in the specialization exams. It’s because he’s angry with the family that’s why he went to study mech building. I went to persuade him yesterday, but my big brother is still angry and so refuses to come back. But I’m worried that if this continues, his talent in pharmacy will be wasted. Director, can you think of a way to transfer my big brother directly back to the pharmacy major? Otherwise, he will regret it sooner or later.”

“The specialization exams is Yan Hao’s own choice. If he doesn’t agree, I don’t have the right to force him to change his major.” Director Liao shook his head.

“Can applying for special talent protection bring my big brother back to the pharmacy major?” Yan Fei asked.

Special talent protection was a form of protection provided by the Federation to certain individuals with special abilities in a certain field. Once this protection was obtained, that person would receive the best resources from the Federation. This was an honor in and of itself and was applied for voluntarily by the person concerned or bestowed by the Federation if it discovered that someone had made a special contribution in a certain field. Those who received this talent protection were then obliged to engage in research related to that field for the rest of their lives because they were enjoying the best resources of the Federation.

“Your big brother has received the honor of talent protection in the pharmacy major?” Director Liao was surprised. If Yan Hao had really received the talent protection, then he could bring him over easily from the Mech Building Department.

“My parents have already applied for it for my big brother and the results will be made available in two days.” Yan Fei told him. “My big brother went to the mech building department because he was throwing a temper tantrum. He has a temper and quite a bad one at that. My parents aren’t able to persuade him, but they’re afraid he’ll be delayed because of it, so they came up with this idea. When the time comes, Director, could you please apply to transfer my big brother back directly?”

“If that’s the case, I can do it.” Director Liao didn’t doubt what he was saying. After all, Yan Hao’s talent in pharmacy was real; he had studied pharmacy for six years in middle through to high school and had once applied for the pharmacy major only to abandon it halfway.

Most importantly, Director Liao believed that no parent under the sun would harm their own child.

“Thank you, Director.”
