The first thing that greeted me when I woke up was the cute face of an angel.
“…Hnngh” angelic devil, Eris, muttered in her sleep.
I decided to ignore my curiosity as to why she was sleeping in my bed in my room.
“Hnnngh… Onii-chan…”
Yep. She’s cute. Most certainly. Undoubtedly.
However, that was only if she wasn’t acting.
And I knew very well. That the moment I gave in to this devil in angel’s clothing…
– would be my end.
I immediately got up and started getting ready to go to school. As I was doing so, I heard the rustle of clothes from behind me.
– She’s approaching me.
“Yuno… you’re going already?”
A whisper from the devil, enough to melt someone’s brains out of their head.
“I’ve got to go to school soon, so yes.” I said, glancing at her over my shoulder, and–
“…!”
The devil Eris’ saucer-like eyes were starting to fill up with tears as she looked up at me. Its size perhaps not quite matching, her white negligee had slid off one of her shoulders, exposing her dainty and pale skin.
… Cute… wait no!
I stopped my right arm, which I had subconsciously stretched out to pat her on the head, with my left hand.
……The heck am I even doing?
It had been a few days since I had officially become Luna’s knight. The time I had spent like that so far had been quite enjoyable.
The room I had been given on the second floor of the mansion was multiple times larger than the room I had had back home, and I rather enjoyed the calm and comfortable atmosphere of the place.
Athena’s room was right next to mine. In other words, I was in an environment where I could meet her whenever I wanted to.
Moreover, since both the Flame family mansion and the academy were in the royal capital, it was easy to get there.
That’s right. I had no complaints – except for one.
“I see, so Yuno chose onee-sama over me.” the devil Eris said with a sad voice, her round eyes filling with tears.
Even though I knew that was just a trick to get me to let my guard down, I couldn’t help but give in.
“Lady Eris, I think just as fondly of you as I do of Lady Luna.”
And that was true. If Eris was ever in danger of getting injured, I wouldn’t hesitate to use my power, even at full force, if necessary.
Eris’ sad expression turned into a smile.
And then, right as I was thinking ‘Good. Smiles really do suit her better.’
“So, Yuno, likes me?” Eris asked all of a sudden, cocking her head to the side.
“…Yeah. That’s right.”
“Boo, say it properly” Eris said, puffing up her cheeks in a pout.
It seemed like ever since the encounter with the goddess Astaroth, Eris had taken a liking to me.
And I had no problems with that fact itself. On the contrary, I was happy about it.
However, this room, which should have been my private room, had already turned into Eris’ playground, removing any privacy I could have had. In addition, I was quickly nearing my limits as to how many of her pranks I was receiving daily I could endure.
“…I like you, Lady Eris.” I said, and the corners of her mouth curled upwards in a satisfied grin.
…That was when I had a bad premonition. One that sadly wasn’t wrong.
“I think fondly of you, Lady Eris – I like you, Lady Eris.”
My voice echoed throughout the mansion.
Eris had used magic.
The birds resting their wings outside took off, startled by the loud noise.
…I also want to just fly away.
Once I was aware that the light in my eyes had gone out, I noticed someone outside the window.
“Youuu bastardddd!! Just what the hell are you doing to my daughter!” Argos Flame, the head of the Flame family shouted with bloodshot eyes as he broke through the glass of my window intruding into my room.
Eris walked behind me, gave her father a reproachful look, and put her arms around my waist.
“Father. I have decided. I will live with Yuno.”
Don’t just decide something like that on your own.
“Argos-sama, please calm–”
“Shut up, kid! How dare you turn your venomous fangs towards not only Luna but Eris too…! You bastard, I hope you’re ready for what’s in store for you!”
I’ve had it with this family.
The head of the family was fuming with anger, as always. And the devil Eris just watched with a happy look on her face.
This devil, loved by magic itself and secretly touted as a prodigy, enjoyed messing with me and laughing happily at the results.
Save me… Athena.
In fact, she was there, peeking around the frame of the broken window, her crimson eyes sparkling as she smiled at me warmly.
At this rate, there was only one person who could put an end to this.
The door opened with a click.
My saviour sighed quietly, piercing through me with a gaze as cold as ice.
“…We’re leaving.”
It was time for the long awaited going-to-school.
I immediately bowed to her.
“– As you wish.” I said, putting all my feelings into those words.
That was how a normal day for me went. It was a day just like any other.
