Dungeon Training

Translated by GXYRU
Edited by GXYRU

And so, Friday arrived, and the dungeon training class began.

It was a joint class for all six first-year classes, and unlike magic practicals, there were no groupings. Over 200 students entered the dungeon simultaneously.

Even though it was a low-level dungeon, monsters up to level 50 appeared in the lower levels. Since most first-year students were below level 5 at this point, the training was limited to the first floor.

There were about 30 accompanying teachers. The number of teachers was higher than the number of classes because teachers from other grades also participated to assist.

As teachers in charge of teaching magic and swordsmanship, their levels were reasonably high. They ranged from at least level 50 to over level 100. In normal circumstances, they would be more than enough as escorts for the first floor—usually.

“Hey, Erik. There are some teachers I’ve never seen before. Have you noticed that?”

“Well, there are also teachers from other grades, so it’s understandable if you don’t recognize them.”

Lies. I remember the faces and names of all the academy’s teachers. Gathering information is essential, after all. But there are eight people among them whom I’ve never seen before. All of them are over level 100. Well, they’re probably Erik’s arranged personal guards or court mages.

There are also people hiding using a combination of “Recognition Inhibition Anti-Perception” and “Invisibility.” Well, with my detection abilities, I can see them just fine.

Their levels are even higher, and they are members of the intelligence division prepared by Darius.

The enemy is already in hiding and undercover, but we have already assessed their numbers and strength. As for the first floor, the forces provided by the kingdom are overwhelmingly superior, so it seems that I won’t have a chance to join in for now.

During the morning class, we moved as individual classes, and the teachers took care of the monsters. They explained how to deal with the monsters when they appeared. It felt like a tutorial.

The monsters that appeared on the first floor were slimes, kobolds, goblins, and orcs, all below level 5.

With the teachers guarding the front and rear, these monsters below level 5 posed no threat at all. When the dungeon monsters were defeated, they vanished with special effects, leaving behind magic stones and occasionally dropped items.

The students who came to the dungeon for the first time were amazed and cheered, but it was only at first. Some confident students found the class boring as they only watched.

“Don’t worry, everyone. In the afternoon, you will defeat monsters on your own. Those who have no experience in defeating monsters should observe our movements carefully.”

After lunch, the afternoon class divided into groups and started to act. Each group of around eight people had an accompanying teacher.

The accompanying teachers were there only to provide support since the students themselves would be fighting the monsters. This is where the real dungeon training began.

“Hey, Erik. What’s the deal with this group?”

In our group, there was Erik, zeke, Burn, Mars, me, Sofia, and Milia. And also zeke’s fiancee, Sasha Blanchard. It seems like we gathered the members who are likely to be targeted rather than the main characters of “Love Academy.”

“Well? It’s a decision made by the academy, so there’s nothing I can say about it.”

No, it can’t be that simple. It’s obvious that they’re baiting them.

According to the information gathered by my father, Darius, there are suspicious movements among the anti-king noble factions. They have been in frequent contact with the academy staff, and they have gathered high

-level sweepers in the capital.

Sweepers are former adventurers turned criminals. They were fired from being adventurers for getting involved in various crimes. The reason these guys can come to the capital so openly is that someone is providing them with forged identification.

But Darius’ intelligence unit in the capital is not lenient. They have already confirmed the existence of high-level sweepers through wanted posters and magic tools.

With the situation lined up like this, there is a high possibility that they will try something. And the most likely targets are the members gathered here.

Even though we understand that, the reason we deliberately invited the sweepers and let them swim freely is to catch them in the act and obtain decisive evidence to crush the anti-king noble factions behind them.

It would involve using the future top members of the kingdom and the imperial prince as bait, but Erik is doing it with full knowledge. Well, Darius is involved too, so I don’t think everyone’s lives are in danger. It’s not that we’re being careless; we’re analyzing the strength of our enemies rationally.

“What are Erik and Arius talking about? Something seems suspicious.”

Milia glared at us. It seems like she noticed something.

“Well, Milia, it’s nothing. Even if something were to happen, Arius would take care of it somehow.”

Erik doesn’t seem to have any intention of hiding it.

“Even if I don’t get involved, it seems like there are plenty of capable teachers this time.”

Well, let’s see the skills of the guards Erik prepared for us.
