Shall we follow?

There was a half-demolished church in the distance where Alma was looking. At the top of the roof is a statue of a goddess that resembled the Creator God.

Deep horizontal lines of grooves had been carved into the statue to blind it, and what should have been two pairs of four bird-like wings on its back had been replaced with pitch-black bat wings. A fallen god. It had been altered in such a way that it gave the impression of a fallen god.

“Are you blaspheming the great Creator God, you undead?”

As Alma shouted in anger, the knights of the church leaked out murderous intent and kicked down the door of the church and went inside.

Blaspheming the, pinnacle of God, Creator God, that the church reveres, they wouldn’t be able to ignore this place and continued onwards, deep into the dungeon.

“Shall we follow them?”

“Yes.”

Surprisingly, Sophie’s reaction was indifferent.

Has her faith in the Creator God fallen to the ground and become indifferent to her, as she has been at the mercy of church officials her whole life?

Well, whatever it is, it doesn’t change what I’m going to do.

“It’s probably a trap. I’ll make sure to protect you. Just stay out of my way.”

In a normal dungeon, I wouldn’t have thought of it as a trap, but here we have a dungeon master. There must be a meaning for such a performance that would upset people’s nerves.

I carefully walked through the church, checking for traps, and entered the chapel. On either side of the central aisle were rows of decaying wooden benches, and beyond them was an altar. A woman wearing a black hood and a knight wearing a one-handed sword, shield, and full-body black armor stood there. At the back of the altar was a stone statue of the Creator God, desecrated just like outside, and near the ceiling were several lit candles, brightly illuminating the church.

Alma and the church knights stopped in the center of the chapel and confronted them.

“By Alma, the Bishop of War, we have decided to destroy this church. You may disappear as quickly as possible!”

After declaring war, Alma jumped at the black knight. He caught the swinging mace with one hand and kicked it to blow it away.

Alma, rolled on the floor, involving several church knights. She stood up, spitting out a gurgle of red blood.

“[Heal]”

While Alma was recovering from her wounds, the black knight attacked and the church knights returned fire. They are already outnumbered as one of them has already been cut down. If this continues, they won’t last more than a few minutes.

Alma used the same magic that Sophie had used on me to boost the abilities of all her friends. The church knights’ movements improved to the point where they were able to fight the black knight on even terms. Then Alma rushed in again, and the battle continued, breaking benches and altars.

Two of the church knights swung their swords down from both sides, and the black knight used both hands to prevent them. Aiming at the momentary gap, Alma swung her mace down. I’m sure the blow aimed at the head would have surely crushed the helmet and reached the armor if it had hit. But the shockwave that erupted from the Black Knight blew them all away.

“[Summon: Dark Knight]”

The woman who had remained at the altar used magic.

A magic circle appeared on the floor, and dozens of headless knights appeared.

All of them, including the first black knight, had holy inscriptions on their equipment, but all of them were scarred, giving them the appearance of knights who follow a fallen god.
